————————————–

Caroline Dawson was born and raised in Niagara Falls, an experience which gave her a deep love for creation and nature.

She joined the Loretto sisters in 1958; she did her BA and teacher training at the University of Toronto.

She taught high school in Weyburn, Toronto and Guelph before starting her theological studies in 1971 ( one of the first two women admitted to the M. Div. programme at the Faculty of Theology, St. Michael’s College).

She was invited to join the staff in 1976, and became a faculty member the following year with her appointment as Director of Field Education. She completed the Doctor of Ministry programme in 1984, again the first woman accepted into the programme.

In the late eighties, Caroline joined the team at Providence Spirituality Centre, Kingston. In 2001 she accepted an invitation to the Loretto Spirituality Centre, Niagara Falls. After it closed she stayed in Niagara Falls free-lancing.

After a fairly lengthy discernment, Caroline returned to Toronto in 2010. One of the ministries Caroline continues to be involved in as a faculty member is the Haden Institute, a programme for training people to be spiritual directors/companions. Some of her main interests continue to be feminism, adult learning, spiritual direction, mystery books, politics, movies and history.
